Once upon a time, there was an IRS refund cycle chart that told taxpayers when they could expect to receive their tax refund.
Don’t plan on the IRS posting a 2015 Refund Cycle Chart. In 2012, the refund cycle chart fairy tale ended and the IRS eliminated the chart.
However, there are still helpful tools out there to help filers get an idea on when they can expect to receive their tax refund in 2015. Since each year differs slightly, you can check out the 2016 refund cycle dates HERE.
Where do I go to find out when I will receive my refund?
The IRS no longer posts a tax refund chart, however, they did post an article last year explaining a refund tool available on their website called “Where’s My Refund?”. Once your 2014 tax return is filed, you can check your refund status on the IRS site. You’ll need to enter the following information;
- social security number
- filing status
- refund amount.
Are there any estimated refund cycle charts available?
Although the IRS won’t post a 2015 refund cycle chart, there are estimate refund cycle charts out there. The dates are based on trends from prior years. The tax refund cycle chart is based upon how you elected to receive your tax refund; via direct deposit or check. Below is an example of a 2015 refund cycle chart (don’t forget these are estimate dates);
The tax refund cycle dates are NOT promised dates. They are simply dates based off of previous year trends. To know for sure when you will receive your taxes, wait a few days after filing your 2014 taxes, then check the IRS website using their “Where’s My Refund” tool.
The IRS is now accepting e-filed 2014 Tax Returns. That means you can file your 2014 today with RapidTax and within 21 days you’ll have your refund money. | Photo via Seth Anderson on Flickr
my hr block shows it was accepted but when i check through irs it just shows processing so which is right??
Brittany,
The IRS website is generally correct. HR Block is letting you know it was accepted by the IRS. The IRS is letting you know, that they are processing your return and refund. It may be processing by the IRS for up to 21 days, and then you will receive your refund.
hi tax advisor i filed my on 2/2/14 an i have no bars and everybody keep telling me that im not gonna get my refund is that true an how would i know if im being audited an my tax prepaerer cant tell me anything or whats going on
Taxes got accepted on Jan 27. Where’s my refund says my check should be deposited by Feb 6.
My return was accepted on the 28th, and I haven’t gotten a refund date yet on “WMR”… That’s a bit strange.
Same here Jason… I filed on 1/28/14 and got a text saying the IRS has accepted my federal return… and looking at the schedule its to be deposited on the 5th of Feb… I hope so lol
I efiled through my regular tax preparer on Jan 4th.. When I go on WMR I receive an message stating that they have no information about my return. It makes me worry… is it possible that the system just isnt showing my info, but that my return is already being processed??
Hi Tatiana,
I would definitely check with your tax preparer. Ask your preparer if the return was e-filed and also asked when it was e-filed. The IRS didn’t officially accept e-filed returns until the 31st, so it’s possible your preparer has been super busy and hasn’t made it through all his/her e-file returns to submit to the IRS.
hi can someone explain why I was accepted but know it says it is being processed but it has a tax code130
Hi Theresa,
Tax Code 130 means the entire account is frozen from refunding due to credits of $25.00 or more.
If you are accepted on the 31st but after 11:00 am i wonder what day will you fall under ?
