Once upon a time, there was an IRS refund cycle chart that told taxpayers when they could expect to receive their tax refund.
Don’t plan on the IRS posting a 2015 Refund Cycle Chart. In 2012, the refund cycle chart fairy tale ended and the IRS eliminated the chart.
However, there are still helpful tools out there to help filers get an idea on when they can expect to receive their tax refund in 2015. Since each year differs slightly, you can check out the 2016 refund cycle dates HERE.
Where do I go to find out when I will receive my refund?
The IRS no longer posts a tax refund chart, however, they did post an article last year explaining a refund tool available on their website called “Where’s My Refund?”. Once your 2014 tax return is filed, you can check your refund status on the IRS site. You’ll need to enter the following information;
- social security number
- filing status
- refund amount.
Are there any estimated refund cycle charts available?
Although the IRS won’t post a 2015 refund cycle chart, there are estimate refund cycle charts out there. The dates are based on trends from prior years. The tax refund cycle chart is based upon how you elected to receive your tax refund; via direct deposit or check. Below is an example of a 2015 refund cycle chart (don’t forget these are estimate dates);
The tax refund cycle dates are NOT promised dates. They are simply dates based off of previous year trends. To know for sure when you will receive your taxes, wait a few days after filing your 2014 taxes, then check the IRS website using their “Where’s My Refund” tool.
The IRS is now accepting e-filed 2014 Tax Returns. That means you can file your 2014 today with RapidTax and within 21 days you’ll have your refund money. | Photo via Seth Anderson on Flickr
I wonder if anyone has actually received their refund based on these estimates? You would think that the government would have a better way of tracking your refund by now with all of the technology they have now…
Oh I forgot they don’t have enough employees to handle the overload of paperwork :- /
Went to wmr an they gave me a da for 4-9-14…i have no direct deposit where will i get my check an will it come early….do i need to call my tax preparer….
Hi Karl,
You can contact your tax preparer if you are unsure how you are receiving your refund, they will tell you how you elected to receive your refund. It sounds like the IRS gave you a refund date of 4-9-14, which means you most likely will not receive it before then. Also, if you are receiving it by mail, it could take additional days for the mailing process.
Hi, I filed my taxes on March 7, and they were accepted. Checked on my status on March 20, and the site said my refund was approved. Now when I check on the ‘Where’s my refund’ site it says: You may not have entered your information correctly. Please verify your personal tax data and try again. What does this mean?
Its been 14and the IRS has not accepted My refund is it supposed to Take this long.I am scared that i am not going to get my refund back and if something is wrong will they tell me
Hi Kayla,
I wouldn’t worry until 21 days has passed. Once this time period has gone by, I suggest calling the IRS directly and one of their representatives can research the status of your return. The number is 1-800-829-1040.
Best of luck!
My taxes return was excepted on Jan 31, I have not receive nothing in the mail or when I call they tell me everything okay. Why the delay and why I haven’t receive my refund.
