Once upon a time, there was an IRS refund cycle chart that told taxpayers when they could expect to receive their tax refund.
Don’t plan on the IRS posting a 2015 Refund Cycle Chart. In 2012, the refund cycle chart fairy tale ended and the IRS eliminated the chart.
However, there are still helpful tools out there to help filers get an idea on when they can expect to receive their tax refund in 2015. Since each year differs slightly, you can check out the 2016 refund cycle dates HERE.
Where do I go to find out when I will receive my refund?
The IRS no longer posts a tax refund chart, however, they did post an article last year explaining a refund tool available on their website called “Where’s My Refund?”. Once your 2014 tax return is filed, you can check your refund status on the IRS site. You’ll need to enter the following information;
- social security number
- filing status
- refund amount.
Are there any estimated refund cycle charts available?
Although the IRS won’t post a 2015 refund cycle chart, there are estimate refund cycle charts out there. The dates are based on trends from prior years. The tax refund cycle chart is based upon how you elected to receive your tax refund; via direct deposit or check. Below is an example of a 2015 refund cycle chart (don’t forget these are estimate dates);
The tax refund cycle dates are NOT promised dates. They are simply dates based off of previous year trends. To know for sure when you will receive your taxes, wait a few days after filing your 2014 taxes, then check the IRS website using their “Where’s My Refund” tool.
The IRS is now accepting e-filed 2014 Tax Returns. That means you can file your 2014 today with RapidTax and within 21 days you’ll have your refund money. | Photo via Seth Anderson on Flickr
Its still saying 21days can you tell me if something maybe wrong, it has never took my tax this long to process
Filed my taxes on 2/9. On the Jackson Hewitt website, I’ve been approved. On ‘Where’s My Refund’ website that its still being processed and a date will be given when refund is available. My 21 days end this Sunday. I do not have any codes. No one is helping me on this matter. My Friend filed hers the same day and received her refund last Monday. It honestly feels like the IRS picks and chooses who they want to screw over and take forever with.
Hi Breeann,
There is no certain reason why your return is taking longer than your friend’s return. I would wait until Monday, if you still haven’t seen any changes to your status then contact the IRS asking them why it is taking longer than 21 days.
WE DID OUR TAXES FEB. 12TH 2014 WAS ACCEPED THE SAME DAY. STILL SAYS ITS BEING PROSSED WHY NOT EVEN A DDD
Hi Victoria,
Yes, the IRS may take longer than expected to have your return processed and refund sent to you. I would wait 21 days. If after 21 days the status has not changed, contact the IRS.
I did mine on tje 13 and I dont have a ddd either I was also accepted the same day
Would the irs.gov site update that theres something wrong either on the taxes or refund, when I enter my information
hi i did my taxes and recieved my federal return two weeks ago and when i check on nys tax website it says the paper work was recieved and its upon further review is that normal or is there a problem
Hi Mark,
The good news is that state received your tax return. Further review doesn’t necessarily mean there is a problem and right now means it will take longer than expected for the state to process your return. If you received your federal refund, everything should be fine.
