What are the 2015 Refund Cycle Dates?

Once upon a time, there was an IRS refund cycle chart that told taxpayers when they could expect to receive their tax refund.

Don’t plan on the IRS posting a 2015 Refund Cycle Chart. In 2012, the refund cycle chart fairy tale ended and the IRS eliminated the chart.

However, there are still helpful tools out there to help filers get an idea on when they can expect to receive their tax refund in 2015. Since each year differs slightly, you can check out the 2016 refund cycle dates HERE.

Where do I go to find out when I will receive my refund?

The IRS no longer posts a tax refund chart, however, they did post an article last year explaining a refund tool available on their website called “Where’s My Refund?”. Once your 2014 tax return is filed, you can check your refund status on the IRS site. You’ll need to enter the following information;

  • social security number
  • filing status
  • refund amount.

Are there any estimated refund cycle charts available?

Although the IRS won’t post a 2015 refund cycle chart, there are estimate refund cycle charts out there. The dates are based on trends from prior years. The tax refund cycle chart is based upon how you elected to receive your tax refund; via direct deposit or check. Below is an example of a 2015 refund cycle chart (don’t forget these are estimate dates);

The tax refund cycle dates are NOT promised dates. They are simply dates based off of previous year trends. To know for sure when you will receive your taxes, wait a few days after filing your 2014 taxes, then check the IRS website using their “Where’s My Refund” tool.

The IRS is now accepting e-filed 2014 Tax Returns. That means you can file your 2014 today with RapidTax and within 21 days you’ll have your refund money. |  Photo via Seth Anderson on Flickr

  1. It is saying mine was accepted by the Irs on January 29,2014 when should I get mine ?I go to the irs it saying processing and I should have in 21 days in my account

  2. I filed my taxes Jan 31 after 11am.They said received it Feb 3rd. Check wmr had one bar now I don’t have any bars, just a message stating still processing and a date will be provided when available. Does that mean something wrong with my taxes?

    1. Hi Christina,
      No it doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong with your taxes. The IRS only has stated that 9 out of 10 refunds should be issued within 21 days. With that said, I would wait out the 21 days, if there are still no changes then contact the IRS by phone.

  3. We filed the 25 of january an were accepted the 3rd of february.. now when I looked at the irs website its still on the first bar. But when I check my h&r block website it says that the IRS approved mt returns..if so why isnt it showing up on my page with the irs?? And will I be receiving this by feb 13th?..
    From what the refund chart Says it is saying the thirteenth

    1. Hi Jessica,
      Since we are not H&R Block, I am not sure what is going on with your refund dates. I only would be able to provide you with what our refund status page means.

      Saying that, my best advice would be to have you follow up with H&R and ask them what is going on and let them know of the confusion.

      1. Hi my refund status still on received and I file on January 31 and Irs said they process mines on February 3 can I still be getting my dd in my account even if status havent change thanks

  4. I filed on Jan 30, they accepted it a few days after but still waiting for the bar to go to “approved refund” status and it’s now been about 8 days since they accepted my return…why is it taking so long? I’ve seen some people get approved within a few days?

    1. Hi Erica,
      Your return has been received, which means it is being processed. Once the IRS has completely processed it, it will be approved and the status will change to “Refund Approved”. This can take a few days for some people and can take longer for others. (The IRS notes this on their website). There’s no exact reason why.

      It’s good to know, the chart lists only estimate refund dates based on previous year trends. The IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days, so you should be fine.

    1. Hi Char,
      That means the return has been received by the IRS and they are currently processing it. When the status changes to “Return Approved”, the IRS has approved your return and refund and will send you your refund.
